A warning to ministers of any congregation.

When a person believes something dearly, and will offer themselves for the pursuit of their faith, is it not abominable when persons who claim position and authority, namely 'vicars', use this desire to fuel their own enterprise?

What I am getting at is when people exploit others for the worth of their faith.
Logically speaking.

1. Do you love Christ?
2. Will you do this for the church?
3. If you do not do it, you do not love Christ.

Do you see how that is a fallacy?

Truth, that old chestnut

Truth?
What is Truth?


I am quite terrified of truth.
It is ammunition for judgement.
To 'speak the truth in love' is not akin to 'tough love'.

It does not matter how beautiful or convincing a truth may be.
Truth, without love, real concern for the other's sense of worth, is the most perverse blasphemy.


So, what is truth?

Truth is the action of making love present.
Truth is compassion and empathy.
Truth is sharing, without judgement, that which you find delightful.
Truth is no excuse for an attitude of superiority over 'falsehood'.
Truth welcomes discussion, especially of the difficult, disagreeable sort.
Truth embraces all, it excludes none.


Truth is no bully.

It is a pity that so much of our church-focussed mission is about getting people in; but the gospel is basically about getting people out: ‘go!’ is one of the last words Jesus says to us. We should focus our energies on finding our communities and loving them; not on hoping they might find us, and like us long enough to stay awhile.
